SYFC Teams to Use New Grade Based Format in 2009
Earlier this week (after weeks of deliberation) the Shoreline Youth Football Conference voted to change for the upcoming season to a grade based format. Essentially what this means is that our boys will play exclusively with kids in their own grade. Instead of having 3 levels of play (Youth, Junior, Senior), there will now be 5 (4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade). Below is some more information detailing this change.

While the new format does not have any weight limitations it is age protected for those who are either extremely old for their grade or younger in nature. What many studies have found is that disparity in age and maturity plays a much greater role in injuries than weight. In addition, to adding to the fun of playing with one's classmates, the new format will help provide the highest level of safety for our children.

We are very excited about the possibilities that this provides for the growth of Guilford's program. We look forward to seeing you at registrations this coming Saturday 3/14/09 or next Wednesday 3/18/09.
