The new Executive Board of Directors for Guilford Youth Football is very excited about some of the positive changes that are being put into place for the upcoming 2007 season. We feel that these changes will provide a better experience for all who are involved with our program and wanted to fill you in on what to expect.
The biggest change at GYF is that the youth league is now going to be coordinated with the program at Guilford High School. High School Indians Coach Scott Benoit will be conducting monthly instructional meetings to ensure our program is the best it can be. His sessions will focus on safety, practice drills and instruction, and coach training.
The league is also constructing a new climate-controlled storage building at Long Hill Field for our equipment. This will also have an indoor meeting space for coaches and players to discuss playbooks and watch game film.
Teams will have new uniforms for better comfort and safety, modeled after the Guilford High School. Youth players will be announced at the High School games with a different youth team being hosted at each High School home-game. We will post that schedule on this website when it is released. High School players will also attend some of the youth games to cheer on our kids.
And as promised, the coaches are committed to managing practices better: there will be no down time, and shorter practice because of it. This means more time for homework, and other obligations off the field.
Other events are in the planning stages to make the season fun for players and their families. Watch this website for more details as they become available.
