Youth Green - 27, Tri-Town A - 0
Guilford Green was led by Captains Korey Carregal, Billy Conover, Nick Mascola and Sean Kellaher. Guilford had a strong offensive and defensive day with a Green win over Tri-Town 27-0. Korey Carregal and Aiden Kellaher led their team to victory and were grateful to their Offensive Line for their consistent blocking play after play. Offensively they were able to successfully move the ball up and down the field with great blocking. Jake Moscarelli, Carmen Ciardiello and Calvin Hoban had a great day running the ball. Guilford’s Defense, once again, held off our opponent for a well deserved win. Big Green “D” did a great job to preserve the shut-out. All of the Coaches are proud of what this team has accomplished in the past few weeks. Our “Hammer Award” has been awarded to Jake Moscarelli this week.
Youth White - 6, Madison A - 19
Guilford lost a very hard fought battle in a game where the final score was not indicative of how close the Indians played. After an early fumble, the boys drove the ball down inside the 10 yard line. From there, Jack Jankura connected with Shane Molloy for the first touchdown of the game. After that, both teams battled back and forth and went into the half tied at 6. This was despite a beautiful long pass and catch from Jankura to Nick (Sunshine) Porretta. In the second half, both teams put up a great defensive effort, trading punts back and forth. With four minutes to go Madison broke through with a late TD and Guilford was unable to match it. Only a late interception return created the final score disparity. Guilford got a huge defensive effort from Nick Porretta and Evan Hilgert. Jack Jankura played a solid QB all day - with great ball handling and almost 100 yards of passing, including a TD.
